What's on your TV....?

My favorite channel-surf's are:

Jeopardy (I feel so small....! DOH!)

TLC, Discovery, History

NYPD Blue (Thanks to my wife. I think Dennis Krantz is captivating!)

There are others, but these are my short list...

Susan likes to tune into 'Touched by an Angel' at 9:00pm. That's when I skulk off to my computer upstairs....

And your faves???

Coop

The Bill (day to day life of simple London police officers) ITV tuedays & thursdays 9:00pm (probably not available in America )

Funny how they always seem to solve the cases in an hour

Very selective in my viewing habits, I'll only watch The Bill & whatever else is on

NO DAYTIME TALK SHOWS (sometimes it nice to have a day job)

Any of the movie channels, if they have anything worth watching.
I have a package with about 30 different movie channels and some nights there is not one movie that I want to watch, Amazing!

Lunchtime tv is 'Street Smarts', some people ain't so smart

When I have a thirst for knowledge:
  • The History Channel
  • The Discovery Channel
When I want to step back in time to a simpler (though not necessarily realistic) way of life, and have a few giggles:
TV Land
  • The Andy Griffith Show
  • Leave It To Beaver
  • I Love Lucy
When it comes to movies, I also generally lean toward the old black and white classics.
  • AMC (American Movie Classics)
  • TCM (Turner Classic Movies)
The directors of the black and white age were real masters of light and shadows. The stories didn't require strong language, blood and guts, or wild special effects to hold your attention. Case in point, Alfred Hitchcock's "Lifeboat" (1944) -- A story about shipwreck survivors adrift in a lifeboat during WW2. The entire movie is shot inside the lifeboat. It sounds terribly boring, but is in fact a riveting story. Who but Hitchcock could pull that one off?

I'm glad you all like Hyacinth Bucket over there! My hero is her brother-in-law

I don't watch a huge amount of television.

American Football (long suffering Raiders fan)
Cycling on Eurosport - always enjoy the Tour de France

Currently enduring "24" and wishing all the hysterical people would get shot

I like re-runs of Highlander, the tv series.
Re-runs of classic comedy like Dad's Army and Porridge.

I lose my temper with the shoddy history and archaeology programmes Maybe I should just calm down....

Is that Onslo, or Onslaugh? What do you fellows think of "As Time Goes By" ?
I'm also rather fond of "Mystery" on PBS, and just last year we got BBC America. Great comedys and their DIY shows are hilarious.
While we're on the subject (sort of), what's on your radio?

Our local Public Radio station is KCUR 89.3 . We get BBC overnite from midnight to 6 a.m. And we have blues and jazz programming all over the dial.

Yes, Hyacinth Bucket appears in Keeping Up Appearances.

I suppose our hero is Onslow rather than any other spelling.

Come to think of it, John Prescott the Deputy Prime Minister could be Onslow

I would like more television if I actually got to see an entire series but I end up missing some critical episode in the middle. Except Twin Peaks, remember that? I made sure I saw every episode and then missed the last one and nobody taped it

That'd be "The Vicar of Dibley" with Dawn French (wife of Lenny Henry), very funny

My fave's - virtually any natural history prog. A new one over here, "Six Feet Under", I like the humour, a bit like Northern Exposure, used to love that. The missus is obsessed with Ally McBeal - too much saccharine for my tastes, she also forces us to watch "Big Brother" - like watching paint dry!

And of course........

Star Trek.
