Going to the Knifemakers' Guild Show?
Who's going to Orlando? What're you taking?
I'll be there, including the Gala on Thursday night, where I'll have a "40 Year Commemorative" fighter, narrow tang and fossil Walrus. Also, a New York Special, a couple of Drop Point Hunters, a 5" Utility, a little Caper, etc. That is if all goes well! Hope to see you there! BTW: DOES ANYONE KOW MUCH ABOUT "DOWNTOWN DISNEY" THAT'S NEAR THE HOTEL? I KNOW THERE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE A LOT OF SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS, BUT WHICH ARE GREAT, WHICH ARE SO, SO, ETC. ANY RECOMMENDATIONS? I'M NOT FAMILIAR WITH IT MUCH. __________________ http://www.srjknives.com NRA Endowment Member Knifemakers' Guild Member since 1971 "May you live all the days of your life." - Jonathan Swift Last edited by Steve; 07-20-2006 at 11:49 AM. |

Well, since it's been half a day and no one has responded yet, I'll just say that I'll be there. I'll be delivering a couple of hunters and fighters, fossil ivory handled. No "40 year commemoratives" though! Congratulations Steve on 40 years in the knifemaking business- I didn't know you were that old!
I look forward to the new venue and seeing you there. Schuyler Last edited by SL Knives; 07-18-2006 at 10:10 AM. |

Thanks, Schuyler. It'll be great to see you again. I think it'll be a great show in this new hotel.

To partially answer my own question about "Downtown Disney," here's an informative link:

A few pics of stuff going to Orlando
Steve,
It's been a hectic year here in Louisiana, and I've haven't had as much time to knife-make as I had wished but I will be bringing 14-15 knives this year. I have posted some pics of three that will be there; simple, clean, fun to make. Thanks Brad. Only 14-15, huh? Better get to work!! Some lucky buyers await.
I really like the second hunter. Is it a Semi-skinner-type? What's the handle material? __________________ http://www.srjknives.com NRA Endowment Member Knifemakers' Guild Member since 1971 "May you live all the days of your life." - Jonathan Swift |

Knife ??s
Steve,
Thanks for looking. The semi-skinner has a brown micarta handle. The other two have the "old" ivory micarta and stag. I have been concentrating on making simple clean knives of late. Nice looking Micarta?, did you leave the darkened surface intact on the sides?

Steve,
I'm sorry, I did not realize that you had asked another question. I think it is just the way the light makes the "old" Brown Linen Micarta look. Next week come by and give it a gander. Come early, it seems that the simple clean ones go quickly. Regards, __________________ Brad Johnson LTC, Ret KMG since 1991 [IMG][/IMG] http://bradjohnsonknives.blademakers.com/ |

This is a 5" Dirk with SS and Snakewood, love that wood! Here is a Loveless-style Drop with stabilized Box Elder A Loveless-style 5" Utility with Mammoth and double mark Another Drop Point with Stag A little Caper with SS and some of Mark Nelson's great brown micarta Dont'cha love those clouds reflected in the blades? You know, "artistic #######." Thanks, Dogman, for posting these, and maybe he can post the Gala/40 Yr. Anniversary knife, though far from finished! __________________ "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." - George Orwell "Kind-hearted people might think there was some ingenious way to disarm or defeat an enemy without too much blood. Sorry to say that the family won't make it this year, just Dorothy and I. Nate's in the USAF in Enid OK, learning to fly T1's and everyone else is either too busy or too poor! But we're anxious to see everyone!
