Never to late to get it. Check the HT kith thread, send ray a knife from that tread. Doesn't even need handles or more than 220 grit finish. He's just gonna bust it anyway. Anyone participating in a kith has to do the ht kith first so everyone knows that everyone's knife will be heat treated properly when they get it.

Traok,

Exactly what Nick (Naboyle) said. This KITH just started so there's plenty of time, please do enter. Anyone can enter right up until the last day of the KITH as long as you have your HT blade in sometime before then. Here's the link to the HT KITH:

http://www.knifenetwork.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=61773

Just make that simple blade as proof of your ability to heat treat your steel and send it to me. If you have any questions or need any help all you need to do is ask. The purpose of all these little KITHs is simply to help the new guys advance their skills and have some fun doing it.....

I've added some more stuff to the prize pile including a small piece of damascus, some large maple blocks, a Dymondwood block, 3 brand new leather folder sheaths(as one prize), a brand new leather belt to fit a 1x30" sander, a huge block of spalted sycamore, and there will be more as I get to it. Everybody who grinds a blade for this KITH gets to choose something from the pile. Here's an updated prize pile pic:

What steel is the Damascus made of? Is the purple wood in the upper right corner the diamondwood? What is the wood in the bottom middle, the darker one?

thanks, Austin

C'mon Cthulu! The KITH runs until Thanksgiving and the knife can be as plain and simple as you want it to be just so long as it has a grind line on it. You've got time to move and still get it done....

I'm in the middle of building, and moving, or I might try to jump in on this one too. Just for fun.

Well Ricky, same for you - it's a simple KITH and there's two and a half months left on it. Hopefully, you'll be able to squeeze it in. Hope to see you back in the Chat Room too ...

I wanted to bring this thread back to the top so be sure the newer guys have seen it. This KITH is a good opportunity to stretch your knife making education - practice your grind lines and get free stuff! Everybody who enters this KITH will get to choose something from the goodies pile. And, like any KITH, the knives will be exchanged among the participants so you will also end up with a new knife.

If you have questions or concerns about whether or not you can do this then post them here. There's always a way if you really want to do something ...

I wanted to bring this thread back to the top so the new guys could know about this KITH and, hopefully, be encouraged to give it a try. You don't need to make a fancy knife for this KITH, just one with nice grind lines. This is a learning experience and not a contest. You enter, you win - simple as that AND you not only get to trade knives with someone you also get free stuff from me. It's win-win all around ...

Well, I guess I'll see if I can get my hands on some 1084 in the next few weeks and giver her a try. Getting ready to head to the Tacoma area for the weekend, maybe I can get some there.

Butch,

If you can't find any there someone here can either point you to a place where you can order some or, very likely, they can just send you a piece of it ...
