Clay Coated Bowie

I decided to play around this week. This is my first clay coated blade. The steel is 1095 that was coated with Satanite.

Description:

Blade: 8 1/4"
Overall: 13"
Handle: Mesquite Burl laminated with vulcanized spacer corner to corner both ways (doesn't show well in the pic) and fluted.
Fittings: 416

I can see the hamon fine. And what a beauty it is.

I use to have a problem with every pic on here looking too dark. It is funny cuz, I would take them to photo shop and lighten them up, then send them to the people who posted them. I bet some of them thought I was crazy when they recieved a washed out pic of their own knife. I thought I was doing a great public service. I got suspisious because everyone else seemed to see the pics fine, so I asked Coop about it. He was kind enough to send me this greyscale in the link below. He said to set my computer so that I could see a graduation in every shade of grey to the end. Hope it works for you too.

Beautiful work as always Gary!! That clay coating adds a lot to the blade (as if you need to add anything).
I saw one of your knives on a dealer?s table at the KC gun and knife show last weekend. He had a couple more in his private collection. Kyle Hill was the dealer?s name. One of the nicest guys you?ll ever meet.
