Picking up an older project

I forged this last July in central Virginia while camping and never did anything with it .

Something made me pick it back up yesterday. Dreaming of the hot days ahead maybe.
It's 1095 clay treated. The handle is a bit long , but it I think it will look better proportioned once wrapped just to the finger notch. Cant decide on jute or flat cord. The color is still on from the last temper cycle. Kind of a shame the color doesnt last with use. What do you guys think I should wrap it with? Thanks for lookin

Wrap it with a one-way bus ticket to Georgia!

Thumbs up handle stuff

Hey Mark -
I like the looks of that knife..
With the way you did the back end of the tang, how about a hide of some type ??
One of those rawhide chews from the store; leave it in warm water; unravel, and
some hide glue, and that would look primal and primitive..
Or maybe sinew and hide glue ???
You do really good work..

That is a good looking knife. Sometimes you need to chew on em awhile before they tell ya what they want to be. I am working on one right now that I threw down awhile back.

Thanks Guys,

I'd rather send you guys a map to the great wide open spaces out West.

There are some 20 acre lots on a mountain so tall , you can see the curvature of the earth. Just come on out there and lets just buy us the whole mountain.

That sounds really good. I can reach out my window and touch my neighbors house.

Good thing we are grandfathered in. I get to keep mine and the RV right out in the front yard.
As I think about it, all my knives could be considerd abandoned projects.
here is one orphink

Beautiful blade, Mark!

IMHO it would look great with a rawhide wrap and jute cord turk's head knots spaced out overtop.

Nice looking knife!

If I had that map today, I might just gas up the truck and go! Do ya suppose they'd track me down?

maybe through some slabs of leather or wood on sides and shape then cover with tanned buckskin and wrap ends with sinew?
