Axle identification

This old axle was encased in cement I'd say for at least 100 years in an old barn foundation. As you can see I have forged an ax out of a piece of it. Before I went to the trouble of forging the ax I did check to see if it would harden and it did harden up in water. Thinking it may have been an old buggy axle but also thinking it could be from some type of agricultural equipment. Any help would be appreciated.....

Well,
If you're axing me...." I don't have a clue!"

Scott

Ray, It was good to talk to you at Blade. Sorry it didn't turn out good. Will miss you if you don't get there next year.

Hey Ray, I got one just like it.
If it has a bow in the center. Old timer consensus was itsa a buggy axle.
Swedish steel maybe?

Where the heck you been? I thought maybe you dropped dead and didn't say anything about it.

I didn't find the whole axle, maybe 1/3 of it. I'm going to go with buggy. I've checked with several old timers locally and also Goddard and know one knows for sure.

Tai, Don't you be messing with my axle. Its the only one I have........

Scott, Right now I don't think I'll be back to Blade but I can always change my mind. That show just cost way to much money for me to go and do. Done it 3 years in a row and each show I've done my sales are less and less. Airfare was over $700.00, more than double what I paid 3 years ago.

Work has been keeping me from the good stuff.
I lurk through once in awhile just don't have time for much.
Butt if all goes well that may change by the end of the year.
