Black Ash Burl Bowie
Tracy Mickley of Midwest Knifemakers Supply delivered a really nicely sized block of stabilized Black Ash Burl to me on request. I mated it with a "Dressed-Up Bowie" in my normal Take-down assembly.
The ferrule is a combo piece of file-worked stainless and fluted hot-blued mild steel. This is a one-piece assembly by means of internal 4-40 stainless screws to allow complete dis-assembly. The oval guard and octagonal butt cap are also hot-blued mild steel. Facets on both butt cap and guard are polished while the main surfaces are satin. The filed and fluted areas of the ferrule are also polished while the exterior area is satin. This process gives off sort of a "jeweled" effect because of the varying reflections. The black ash burl speaks for itself! Really nice job of stabilizing by WSSI. 9 1/2" blade and 15" overall with 5160 forged steel. __________________ Blade Show Table 8-Q What do you do when you see your ex in pain, limping and bleeding? Man Karl you've been busy!! It seem like every time I turn on the computer your posting a knife that would take me months to get half as nice. I second Dan's opinion - your workmanship is outstanding! You are definately the master of the takedown knife.
