Trying something new - making a blog

I've been searching the internet for a while now looking for blogs related to knifemaking. There actually aren't that many. Most of the ones I have found are only used to show new knives which are available or they only post very infrequently.

I have thought that building a good blog would be a good way to regularly get information out and keep yourself in the minds of customers and potential customers. Having a web site is pretty standard for knifemakers, but most of us don't really update our sites frequently and we can't expect people to keep checking back on the web site to look for new stuff without something prompting them to do so. With a blog, people can subscribe and they will automatically get new posts in their RSS reader or via email every time you post something. I think that this will be a good way to help build loyalty and brand recognition.

After a lot of thought on this, I have started my knifemaking blog. Please check it out and let me know what you think. Has anyone else tried using a blog? How did it work? What do you think of this idea of using a blog to get your name and knives in front of more people?
Tony

Neat idea Tony. Sounds like good business.
Just one question......where do you find the time to maintain both a website and a blog, work a real job and make knives?

At the risk of sounding like a dummy, how does one join a blog? Or, do you? Do you just bookmark it and check in from time to time? There is much I do not understand.
