A little alligator and deer skin
This is the last sheath I have completed and it will be headed out to its new owner next week. It is made of alligator and is fully lined with deer skin. The knife is our model number two with a 3.5 inch blade and snake wood handle. The dust stands out real well on the green background doesn't it?

Stunning set Harry Must be hard to let that rig leave the shop.
Is the 'gator backed with cowhide or does it have enough 'body' to hold its own? Beatufully done, we'll forgive the dust Mike __________________ Trying to become the kind of man my dog thinks I am http://www.fototime.com/ftweb/bin/ft...E4E363B}&tio=0 |

Mike it is backed with 6-7oz cowhide. The gator is relatively thin and to me the lines between the scales are kind of weak. The gator plus the cowhide and deer skin lining makes a thick, stiff sheath. So I apply the gator to the cowhide backing with the cowhide already folded. That keeps you from having to stretch the gator when you fold the sheath for stitching.
