? for Don re bolsters

Hopefully of interest to others as well.

Don
I have recently been making some of the small fixed blade knives in the 4 to 5 inch overall range. Everything gets more critical when you get smaller. I like to dovetail the bolsters similar to yours but when the bolster is only 1/2" X 3/4" how do you do the dovetailing without burning your fingers. Do you have a jig of some sort? Everytime I try this I end up either burning my fingers from the heat generated by the grinding or grinding my fingers. I am hoping you have some trick to grind these very small parts accurately. I checked your tutorial but didn't see anything on there about a jig.
Thanks
Steve

Nope, Steve, I burn my fingers all the time. I have learned to let go when they get hot , but I let them fall into the miter gage slot, pick them up with a pair of pliers, and dunk them in a nearby can of water. I will often let one sit in the miter gage channel (the groove on the table) while I grind the other, and then dunk them both.
