ironwood 009.jpgJust finished my third knife this weekend, it took quite awhile to complete ran into several problems! first I got my grind lines off from one side to the other. Then My first set of bolsters I shaped to round in the front so I put them in my scrap pile. then when I finally got the bolsters fitted and went to peen them on they did not suck up tight to the handle so I had to sand down the pins and drive them out. Since I had to knock the pins out I had trouble hiding them on the left side of the bolster. I used ferric chloride then lightly sanded the blade. Desert ironwood scales. I learned alot from this knife because I made so many mistakes but I think the finish product came out pretty good.
2 3/4" blade
3 7/8" handle
1095 steel
303 stainless hardware
1/8" pins on bolster, 3/32" pins on handle, 1/4" thong tubing

Lookin good.
I like the shape of the handle with the bolster. The bolsters sounded like they gave you some probs but they were worth it.....it looks saweet.

Thank you for all your comments. I guess if your not making mistakes your not learning, but I did not want to learn that much all at once!! I had the idea in my head and I did not want to put it down or change the style until last resort. again thanks for your kind words.

Great job on the knife John. Keep in mind that allot of mistakes are ones that only you will see and the public will never know that they are there unless you tell them. I think the knife looks really good and has great lines. To me that would be a real user. Keep it up.
