Success!

I just used my KM-24 for the first time on CPM154 (2 small blades)

I plate quenched in foil and got 61RC on my hardness tester twice on each blade.

I'm pretty happy with that.

They are in the oven now (400F for 2 hours). I'm shooting for 58RC.

...letcha know.

It was easier than I expected. I see a lot of stainless in my future!

BOOYA!

Both blades were tested twice on the trusty Rams Rockford and both are 58RC on the money!

Thanks to everyone who ever posted on heat treating CPM 154, 154 CM, or ATS 34, because I read them all.

What temps did you use on your process?

Well, the digital readout said 1800.

I bought it from a guy in Colorado who pointed out that the thermocouple was up near the door. He said that he had mesasured the heat in the center of the furnace at almost exactly 100*F higher.

I put the knives in the center, where, according to him, it would have been 1900*F.
Held for 1 hour
Plate quench in foil
tempered for 2 hours at 400
61RC as quenched
58RC as tempered

I'll add a freeze in there at some point, but this is good for now.

Nice one (or two?) Andy. Don't you just love the precision of being able to program in your temperatures ? I use an Evenheat KF24 and I can see a lot of stainless (never worked it before) happening in my not too distant future too.
