burnout ovens

Anyone use a dental/jewelry burnout oven for HT?

The chambers of many of them are big enough for most of my designs. The longest dimension is about 9" on most models. Knives bigger than that I would rather make from non-stainless anyway.

They have pyrometers, infinate switches, better than 2000*F capability, 110V opperation, and a front loading design for around $300-$400. There are even some programable models for about $750.

It's a nice benchtop size and I think I want to buy one, unless someone can tell me why they won't work.

I already did the search thing. Not much info there.

Do you have any links that show the $300 to $400 models? I googled on burnout ovens and many of the leading links are showing units that exceed the cost of an Evenheat.

Do a search on ebay. Try 'burnout' and 'burn out' with 'oven', 'kiln', and/or 'furnace' after it. There are several to see in that range.

I use one and it is great. If you can get one for that price, go for it.

Yeah I have been using one for 6-7 years. Takes forever to get up to 1550. I am in the process of trying to build 1. My oven has a analog control and is to hard to control for tempering. I might see if I can add a digital contrl.
