Equalizing
In reading the Crucible sheets, I am left without a complete explaination of 'equalizing'.
For 154CM, I think it says to preheat to 1400* and then equalize. ??? Is this a hold time at 1400*? How long? Any help would be great. most of those reference sheets are designed for the imaginary 1" thick piece of steel. It would take some time for a furnace to heat the entire thickness of the steel to an even 1400F so you 'equalize' or allow enough time for the entire thickness to reach temp. For a knife, it's so thin it doesn't take any time. I allow 4 minutes and probably don't even need to do that.

Ok. It's actually ATS-34, but that shouldn't make any difference.
