Less than an hour! I've just got a lot on my plate right now. But it doesn't hurt to talk and plan it out.

Eli- as an incentive for you to take the challange, I will offer you $10.00 per inch for your finished knife. I am ass/um/ing that you will be using "average" materials. Any thing "extra" let me know. No sheath expected. Design, material, hamon line (J/K), handle, all up to you. Completion date, your choice, but not longer that 3 months. Should be interesting.

Blade length or total length? And would you like it at the 50 minute mark, or document that point and then finish it?

Eli, I was not figuring on a hamon. I guess I was figuring a lesser knife than you planned. The $10.00 per inch was for the overall length. It would be for what you have finished in 50 minutes assuming it is a working knife. Your choice of materials and every other aspect of the knife. ...Teddy

Well, its 10 - 1/2 inches overall. Yeah I'm might be planning on it being nicer and/or more involved that you thought, but I think $10/inch is a decent price if you're still interested.

I'll be doing a practice run, but first I'll have to order the steel. I'm hoping that design will fit on a 2" wide bar.

Done deal at 10.5 = 105.00. BTW, what size and type of steel do you want 2 x ? x ?. Maybe I have it and will be glad to send you a piece for the price of the postage if I have it and still pay $105.00 for the knife. I'm betting on your ingenuity and talent. I know you can make a knife in (or about) 50 minutes. ...Teddy

The width of the blade at the widest point is 1.5" so I'm thinking to cut down on waste and $$$ of getting some 3/16" x 1.5" and hammering the curve into the handle. Since I'll only be banging the handle, and at low temps, it should cause any muck in the blade.

I have some 2" bar in that width, but I'm saving it for another project. Wakizashis. Arrg!

Gimme 2-3 weeks to prepare. Hopefully I'll sell a knife by then and have the funds. Going to order fresh belts, files, etc. Also, working around my friends schedule that will be filming it!

Teddy, as my patron, you get a complimentary copy of the DVD. All you regular people gotta pay $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Eli- I have 1 1/2" x 3/16"x as long as you need. If this will work, let me know. It's your favorite, 1084.

At least I think it's 1084...I got it for a lawnmower blade

You'd need to send a piece 21-1/8" long, one for the practice run and one for the filmed event and I couldnt ask you to send that much
