Jim, are you making one of them newfangled, super-secret, ninja throwing rectangles? Deanimation of zombies and elfs on the cheap Big question, will it stop a pissed of reindeer?

Gary, keep an eye out. If you can get the bigger jolly old elf, I think we would have enough leather for all of our sheaths.

I did think about showing you guys a piece of bar stock.

Carl, you gave away my secret identity

AcridSaint, you wouldn't believe how much work it took to get it that shiny.

Mark, the origami lessons paid off.

I still haven't figured out how to link it with the holidays yet though. Maybe a scrim of the naked virgins dancing around the fire?

Jim

Cool, naked virgins

Give them pointy ears and they can be naked virgin elfs. Perfect for a holiday theme. Get's right back to the roots of Christmas (do a google search of the history of Christmas sometime, and why the US didn't recognize it for a long time).

Actually I am a pagan, hence the old joke between my wife and me about every holiday being about naked virgins dancing around a fire. I don't make a big deal of being PC about forcing others to call it a "Holiday" party, etc. It kind of goes against most people's religion (especially mine) to pick a fight over what to call celebrations of peace and life.

Jim,

My understanding was in England, Christmas used to be a lot like Mardi Gras is now, a great big party full of debauchery and sin. The Puritans really didn't like it, and the US really didn't recognize it until very late (1860's before it was a national holiday). It was also supposed to be one of the reasons why the Monarchy was re-instated in England, since it was banned after the monarchy was toppled.

Anyway, way off topic, back to the naked virgins......I mean knives

consider yourself joined jamie!
i'll add you to the list.

it hasnt been mentioned earlier but i think we should set the finish of signups on the 15th november, seems like a reasonable time.
all items to be shipped by december 10 to give plenty of time for the posty in such a busy time, also because of the days off getting close to the 25th. and everyone to give a definate yay or nay by the 1st of december and the names can be drawn on the first which gives 10 days for everyone to contact each other.

if anyone has any concerns with these dates let me know, otherwise i shall edit the first/rules post to include them tomorow.

also does anyone want to do do the drawing, or shall i just do it, i dont mind doing it but if anyone thinks i shouldn't or anyone thinks they'd like to then theyre welcome.

Brett

Nice to see everyone in the right spirit with the photos!

I just finished my design and decided to go with snow white holly for the handle. The theme go farther than that, but... it's a secret...

Andy,

Did you get the holly stabilized? I tried using it once and it was to soft for me.
