Count and measure your fingers before you crank it up..................especially if you run a 36 grit.
Solid machine and a real beast, just goes to friggin fast for an old guy like me. You'll love it. Great shop tool. __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

I think you made a good choice in a grinder. I use a 1x30 and a 2x42 and I am happy with what I produce. I think that's the most important thing.

Got the grizzly set up, haven't done any grinding yet, just some testing on wood. Only complaints so far are that the belt won't track well, keeps sliding when I make contact. That and the tool rest broke, threads pulled right out of the base. Def takes material off fast though.

It may take some fiddling around to get it to track. Check the length of the boom - it can be adjusted for up to a 76" belt I believe. You can tweak the length a little because of the spring tension, might help some. Also, check the idler wheel - you might try increasing the height of the crown by adding a few turns of electrical tape to the center of the wheel.
As for the tool rest. throw that monstrosity away and rig up your own. Make sure yours is easy to take away from the belt (doesn't even need to be attached to the grinder) because for most things you don't need a tool rest. Mine stayed up in the attic for most of its life .... |

Let me second Ray's opinion of the tool rest. I have a different grinder, a Coote, but it didn't take me long to realize the the tool rest was more trouble than it was worth for most of the grinding that I do.
