Help, Building my first forge
I know, I know use the blue search button. Unfortunately, I did and came up with nothing. Here is my question.....Can ductile iron be used for the body of a forge? If so, I scored big. Last night at midnight, we shut down the water plant up in White County, GA to install to concrete vaults with backflow preventers and meters in them to protect the plant against any backflow condition that might occur. Well, we had to cut out the old vault and I managed to obtain a 15" long piece of 12" ductile iron. The first thing that came to mind was "forge body" so I immediately claimed my prize and put it in the truck. Everyone thought I was nuts! I hope this was a good find. Please let me know if it will work or not. If so than I can get more in any size from 6" to 12" if someone else is interested.
Thanks, Dan Pruehs Last edited by dpruehs; 05-14-2004 at 11:54 AM. |
