Wink 1st Folder work in progress

Well here's what I've got so far.I've managed to work out the mechanics and now I'm working on bolster and scale material. This is pretty much only the mechanical aspect of it,so disregard the unfinished look of it.This is about 30-35 hrs. work over a weekend. There's alot of headscratching and backyard engineering here. Also a number of "special tool #109's" and jigs.Any and all comments, criticsms, or sugesstions on any thing obvious I done wrong are welcome and appreciated.

Thanks,Chris L.

P.S. Sorry about the photos,I don't have a digital camera but I do have a scanner.

so far, so good

looks as if you have some good elements working, chris. one of the first things i look for is max blade to handle ratio - i think you got it. open blade angle is spot on. i like the shape of the handle slabs - a bit wider at the back i think helps with a wet grip. and you can't beat an open back for cleaning. the only thing i would look at is a bit sharper edge on the bolsters, but that is personal preference. keep at it.
thanx

Looking good!

Chris,
That is looking really great!

I really like the blade shape...and the handles look like the would feel just right in your hand!

Looks like it's 90% done...what do you have left to do? Just final sanding? Looks great at this stage.

I too have a folder in progress, but it doesn't look that good!

Keep up the good work and post a pic when you're all finished!
Keith

I agree with Peter. Nice. My first few didn't come close to that one.

Thanks guys for all your comments.I've still got to make new bolsters ,these are just aluminum I used to get all the peices together so I could see if all the geometry was close.I'm planning on using stainless bolsters and CF handle scales.I'll post a pic when I get it finished. Thanks for the comments and suggestions.
