My Hunter...

I had a couple people ask me to make knives for them and gave me only the words, "hunting knife" to go by.

Here is the first one. I made it according to the size and shape of knife I like to use for General hunting use.

The initial feedback I got when I delivered this one today was very good, so I may do a few more of this type to see if they will sell.

It is 1084 and about 8 inches long. The handle is...well I don't know lol a nice piece of red wood. (lil help Jdale?)

Thats Red Heart. Very nice by the way, I would be proud to have that in my hand while I'm elbow deep in a deer.

Looking good Ricky! The profile, size, and finger notch make that style a great skinner in my eyes. I like the notch for when your hands get slippery; it feels safe to know where your index finger is on the knife.

Thanks Bowman, JDale

Hempish, In that pic it is sanded to 600 grit and has a single coat of tung oil. I'm actually getting the knife back today. I told the person I would have it done by 3:30 yesterday so she could give it to her Husband for Valentines day.(which is why I choose red wood) At 3:30 the knife was as it looks in the picture, but Since my makers mark should be here today or Monday I had already arranged to get it back to mark and finish it. I need to put another coat or 2 of tung oil on it and also do the clean up work on the sheath.

Here is something kinda funny. The guy who Received the knife put a very nice post on facebook, HOWEVER, the way he worded the post makes it ALMOST sound like I am his Valentine. It caused some funny responses.

Well Ricky, you know we try not to judge people or their life choices here, whatever floats your boat. :-D

I know, I'm a butthead. Happy customers are the best kind and it looks like he's very pleased with that knife!

Rickey, don't worry unless he comes at you with his arms wide and a big pucker!
Always good to hear/see that someone appreciates your work. On to bigger and better.
