Electrical ?
I have seen controllers that convert 110v to 220v 3phase is there a controller that would convert 110v to regular 220v so I could run my heat treat oven until I get my new shop built or my current one wired?
Thanks for any help, Austin Colvin __________________ Austin Colvin |

There is no such beast.. Pull a new 220 circut from your panel. Most ovens require 3 wires..2 hots (black, red), and a ground(green or bare copper).

See if this is what you are looking for. I had a buddy run a bank of sock knitting machines off of one of these. Mike |

Mike, those convert single phase to 3 phase. A residential panel is 120/240 single phase. One of those units would work if be had a 3phase oven.

If I 'twas you Austin I'd pull a 60a 240v circut to you shop and mount a sub panel and put in a ground rod My guess is your oven draws 20a but because they run for long durations you have to wire it for 125%, so you put it on a 30a circut with #10 wire.

It says 13 amps but I will wait till I can afford to wire the shop. I think I can get 220v in the shed next to my shop where my forge is for now just gonna suck when the weather turns cold. I'll figure something out guys Thanks.

If its 13a you can use #12 romex on a 20a circut.

You can buy a single phase 115 VAC to 3 phase 230 VAC VFD, but I've only seen them in fractional horsepower. Google "GS1-10P5"
Your oven has as NEMA6-20 plug and you will require a 2 pole 20 Ampere breaker. Minimum wire size will be 12 AWG. No neutral required, so two hots and a ground. For the record, always check with your local authority for code amendments that apply to your area. Dan Last edited by DanCom; 10-22-2013 at 01:30 PM. |
