My Best Knife
I've been "making" knives for about 6 months using purchased blades, hardwood scraps, and a lot of help from this forum. I just completed this example which I feel is my best to date. The damascus blade was bought from TKS, I drilled the bolster holes with a carbide bit and made the NS bolsters. The streaked buffalo horn was sanded to 600 and buffed.

That's a beautiful knife, Bill. One to be proud of.
I buy blades, too, and then make the knife. May I ask the model number of that nice blade? |

It looks like a ladder pattern pronghorn?
Cheers Ron. |

Nice clean work! 'Bout time to grind one out from scratch? You certainly have the skills, and if you made those bolsters. you have the tools too!

The blade is a TKS BLF21 which is described as a twist pattern. Pin hole size is actually 5/32 although I used 1/8" pins. I recently purchased a Delta SA180 1" belt/8" disc sander from Amazon for $90 delivered. IMHO a very good value. I used the 8" disc to shape the bolsters and the belt to sand the horn where I could although a lot of it had to be done by hand. Thanks for the comments.
