Powder Paint on high carbon blades?
Is it practical to powder paint a high carbon blade? I started to say possible, but then anything is possible, but not always practical. I powder paint jigs and spinner baits. I use a fluid bed to dip the jigs in after they are heated. It is not practical to dip a blade in a fluid bed. Anyone done this?
Thanks Cal |

I've never done it, don't know the exact process you use BUT:
powder coating (is this the same as powder painting?) blades is common among manufacturers and is sometimes used by custom makers. Most often powder coating is done on carbon blades. The key to any kind of coating on a blade is that the application temperature has to be less than or equal to the temperature at which the blade was tempered. Aside from that, the rest is just a matter of finding a way to accomplish the application .... |
