Knives

I had a Elk Hunter made from a Guy in Canada. It has sacled Handles that has Pins with collars around them. Is that the right way to describe them? their Brass... and has a Brass Bolster too.

Eightpointbuck,

I think I know what you mean. I saw a video done by hoods woods a while back and Tim Lively and his wife were on it, they had some darn nice looking folders and I think some of those were of the type you are describing, real nice stuff.

JD Lange

Here's an Album with the Knife listed in the first Pic. And, there'a another Knife he sent me a Pic of, that he still has. The last Pic down at the bottom. See if ya can tell anything about the Handle. It has brass pins with brass collars.

I beleive what is being refered to as far as this knife goes are the collars that thread onto the type of pins he used, the pins are threaded and there are threaded collars that go on either side of the handle and are countersunk into the handle material, the excess is then ground off even with the handle material.

as described - these are called loveless bolts (after none other) and can be had in all brass, all ss and ss bolt with brass nuts from many of the supply houses.

Thanks Wayne, your explanation of the pins was certainly more informative and less convoluted than mine...hehe. Thanks for the words on the knife, I have started liking this sort of finish a lot better am doing most of my stuff with a more rustis finish. We'll just have to see what I come with here in the future, comin along though.

Thanks again.
