Hi Ron,
It was a pretty good show. I really like the new location In Grapevine. I bought 15 knives at the show and have sold all but 3 since the show. Most were gone in less than a week after posting. It has never been a great show for sales for me any way. But most shows have been slower with the Internet sales ever increasing. I know this is the case for me. I sell so much the week before a show I generally don't have near as much to take to shows as I would like. The same thing is happening right now before the New York Show. If I am lucky I'lll have 35 knives to bring to the show. The SOS Show is an excellent show for full time guys like me who actually do this as a business. The entire show expenses are less than the table fee at one of the New York shows. The show is very easy to get in and out of. The hotel is excellent at around $90 a night as opposed to $250 a night for something along the lines of a motel 6. I would have like to have seen more custom makers at that show. The good news is the quality of the factory guys is increasing and the number of them decreasing. The "Sharpest Man in Texas" cutting competition is alwasy fun to watch. I would like to see the show become a 2 day show as I would like to see the New York Shows become 2 day shows. If your in Texas when the SOS Show is going on, you should drop by. I'll be there next year. __________________ Les Robertson Custom Knife Entrepreneur Field Editor for Blade Magazine www.robertsoncustomcutlery.com |
