New to the forum - how do I convert my Colt MK-4
New forum member here and must say this is an excellent site ! Does anyone know how to convert my Colt MK-4 to an auto? I know they sell MK-4s in the auto version so it must be possible to do this? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Well I've never done this myself but I have taken a few autos apart.
I don't know what the colt looks like if it's a button lock then it will be pretty straightforward..you basically need to drill out a space in the bolster to take a coil spring, then you need to drill a hole in the blade to take the end of the coil spring ( you will need a tungsten carbide drill tip for this, and probably a drill press)....if you go to here http://videoknife.com/ and look at how to change a coil spring.....one of the clips, then you will have some idea about how they go together , and then realise what you need to do.....you can buy all the necessary parts here http://www.knifekits.com/kk_1mainfra...lcome.htm~main if on the other hand you want a leaf spring knife like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTY_tTLrm1k then you can still buy the stuff at knife kits and some instructions how to turn one of their knives into a dual action auto. Hope that helps some also FYI.......Mikovs are sold without the springs and you can fit them yourself, you cannot tell a dual action knife apart from an ordinary folder.........I hope that is some good information for you __________________ Jorvik |
