Are all 3 hilt styles aloud on the #4? I'd like to have a "Fighter-Skinner" with a 7" Blade. I like the thought of fighting & hunting with 1 knife, hell thats sounds more like what you would say about a Friend than a knife, I bet thats one friend that would never let you down.
1)Forward Curve hilt
2)Stainless 7" Blade
3)Crown Stag
4)Nickel Silver hilt
5)Silver & black spacers

The PICs Ron posted of the old ones are beautimous. The project can end now that S.Rs has posted that PIC of the Captain's knife. The model 6 grind, ns hilt and metal and fiber spacers with crown stag handle are a perfect combination. I want one exactly like that one.

Is the Capt.'s Crown stag dyed, if so who did it? Would one of you walking rolodexes of RMK info give us, what do they use & how it's done on dyed stag?

Red face Oops!

Yikes! Sorry for the confusion folks, the unusually warm weather has made me a tad light headed. I really wasn't quite sure if I posted the right knife.

Thanks sterusmall for finding the link to the right knife.

Here are Cap's photos:

Cheers!

Moosehead

I would like to see the knife set up as a fighter using a SS blade with the #6 grind. Brass #1 style hilt, brass rounded buttcap and nut with a leather commando shaped handle. Sweeeeet!

I have a 4-6" due from the company on 09/06/06. I thought that I had this all figured out...3 years ago. Wow! Now there's a strong chance that I will be making some changes!

Ironwood with commando handle #6 grind..and am still thinking about the rest.

Soooo.. Lets put ironwood with a #6 grind on this build. NS hilt, thumb notch and red/aluminum spacers.

no stainless

Byrdguy,
I'd like to have that knife too. It can't happen as the Randall shop only forges the Model #4-6", with a #6 grind in O1 Swedish. Don't think you would be the first to ask the shop why? The basic answer is that they have so much going on that they cannot even think about another forging. Oh well: Everybody has to have "some" users in carbon....I guess... Best, Capt. Chris Stanaback

I'm all over the #6 grind, Ironwood for sure. 7" blade, brass double no1 hilt, brass rounded butt cap, red and black spacers. A fighter with Red and Black spacers. Red for the blood shed. Black for mourning of those that did or do not return.

Panhead, I'm sure the Captain will correct me if I'm wrong but I am pretty sure that the #6 grind is only available in the 6" blade.

I like tradion so I like the 6inch #6 grind in brass and really like the idea of highly figured ironwood. That would be a keepsake for my two cents. I will post pictures of my 4s if I can get them in the parameters required. That dyed stag is beautimus. Tom

After seeing these Pics of Capt's #4 Big Game Skinner, and his advice, I ordered a Model #4 x 6? with the Cap a while ago. It is Spec'd out as follows:

Model # 4 x 6? Carbon Steel Blade
Special Forge with #6 Grind & Long Finger Choil
Nickel Silver Flat Top Hilt
Thumb Notches
All Black Spacers
Leather Handle with Border Patrol Shape
Duralumin Butt Cap / Rounded Off
Wrist Thong
No Hone Pouch, Waxed, Right Handed Sheath

I can't wait to get it & actually use it.

Well, dagnabbit then, I'll opt for the 01 carbon steel then as I must have that #6 grind. I'm with you Panhead, on the ironwood handle. Sounds tasty, I could go for that over the leather.

Just cause I don't know, I'll ask, I've never seen a Butt Cap on a Border Patrol handle can this be done?
