Due to my early years spent saltwater fishing I have a stainless steel fetish so that will be my vote.

Thanks panhead! I thought that I'd be the only one going carbon here but CARBON it is for me too. If I'm going to stab someone, I want the rusty blade to give 'em tetanus if nothing else. Love the character of old carbon blades! Stains and all!

3rd story??

Looking ahead, seeing as how the score is officially; A Bunch to 2, I think we can start considering hilt, spacers, etc. I am "on the road" starting this afternoon and continuing until Monday. I will check in this evening. If anyone wants carbon steel to be a serious consideration, speak now! We will move on this evening and start with the 3rd story.
With regards to you carbon crew members, there is one factor that maybe hasn't been considered by any which points to stainless steel. With the idea of a shorter blade (especially 4 and 5" stilettos) concealed carry comes into play. With a custum "boot clip" sheath or an under arm shoulder holster, the 6" Model #2 can be carried in tight, up close and personal. A stainless blade will eliminate most of the concerns with corrosion from body sweat. A Model #2 is also "forged" stainless steel and is not nearly as difficult to sharpen as some "other" stainless steel blades ya'll might be familiar with. Hell: I'm fairly good at sharpening and even "I" don't look forward to re-shaping an old Buck knife! Too brittle!
The bottom line, rather talking carbon or stainless, is not to let them get "too" dull! A "touch-up" is a whole lot easier than completely starting over and re-shaping the edge. Just food for thought. As I have said in various other "builds", I don't care which one we make. It's all up to you folks. Best, Captain Chris Stanaback

From muddy water comes clear truth! You are correct, sir!

My vote goes towards N/S double hilt, aluminum/red spacers. Do we want to continue back to the handle? If so....

Green micarta handle with commando grip and a dura radiused butt.

I like n/s hilt but without knowing the grip material it's difficult to pick the spacers.

My thinking too. That is why I went ahead and picked it.
