Congratulations, Gary! I'll be looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it after you have it in hand.

The model 5 that we all built together arrived today. She's a beaut! Thanks for the great build. The brass furniture looks great with the green micarta. It is handle-heavy (as I think that we discussed somewhere in this thread) but it feels "right." I am hiking the Pinhoti Trail in about 6 hours and I am thinking seriously about taking it with me. I want to use it soon as I planned it as an user. I'm afraid if I don't use it quickly I'll decide to keep it as a safe queen, it's so nice looking.

Look for a couple pics in a day or two. And thanks again to those that participated and to the Captain for hosting the build and giving us a slot so close to the finish.

And here it is:

Believe me, the knife is much more beautiful than my pictures show. Thanks again to all that help build this.

Thanks for the photos Gary!

It looks like a real beauty for sure.

Mike, thank you for the reminder on the specs.

By the way, I think it's a very good thing that you and the Soggy Pup are separated by a couple of thousand miles. (Is that a GREEN micarta handle?)

Cheers!

David

Moose, +/- $20.00 for Insured Shipping would solve that problem.

Great looking #5! That was a fun one to build, and it looks like it sure is a "Winner"!

Green micarta

Moose,
The CDT Randalls come with green "canvas" micarta, while the slotted, full, exposed tang models come with green "linen" micarta. I know most folks, including you, probably already know this. I am just pointing it out for anyone who does not. The canvas often has an almost brown hue to it...but it's cool material...and tough as nails! Best, The "Captain"
