OK! I got everything in for it and now we have some base photo's to show and a good idea of how things are going to be on this kit. Looks like Osprey Guy was dead on with the detent ball's. With the washer in place it is not fluid but more of a ripple but with no resistance, kinda feels very strange, definately a work area. As for the stop pin area that has to be taken down some but very very very very little.

to address some other concerns as for specs.
Think a good flat mill file and some sandpaper for some fine tuning and it should be perfect. Rather little over than little under in this area. FYI, the right edge is the edge of the blade, where the lock fits into. The other sides are dead on. That looks like a pretty easy fit to fix. Any chance you can get me a blade too?

well the good news is he will have them for sale then. You can send him a drawing of the blade and he can cut it for you.
Think I am going to put a whitelip mother of pearl on this one. Ed __________________ Gold is for the mistress - silver for the maid Copper for the craftsman cunning in his trade. Really glad you revived this old 2006 thread... I have been *lusting* for a EDC Damascus knife for at least a decade.
Your build is beautiful. Now the bad new... Ain't no SnakeRiverKnives on eBay any more... :v( Guess the solution is the DDR III Damascus blade! Bigger knife anyway. But thanks for the pics, and the very informative thread!!! Now where did I leave that blank charge card... (grin) |

Ed...Great looking knife. Thanks for the link to the Snakeriver, I'll have to spend time looking those blades over.
I was at the OKCA show last weekend and talked with a fellow from Idaho Falls who had some nice looking damascus blades for sale. The outfit was called Shadow Mountain Forge. Are you, or anyone else, familiar with them? And please, Ed, I look forward to seeing some more examples. Mike |

I do not know that one but I do know of 2 in that area and both of them are very good.
These are all similar to the 605 I will start a new thread in the damascus forum with others. Ed,
The middle and bottom photos look like the DDR3-BL blades. Does the 605 use the same blade? Is the 605 the same as a DDR2? Can you put a spring in DDR2? Great looking blades, I haven't done anything with Damascus yet, but I'm sure liking the look. Mike |
