3-Bar Damascus Folder
The simple engraving in the bone handle is my first attempt and was done with mini files. I didn't file the bone as much as scrape it with the tip of the files.
Description: Blade: 3" Open: 6 1/2" Steel: Ray Kirk's 3-Bar "Barcode" damascus (52100 & 15N20) Handle: Bone Fittings: 416 Gary |

Gary,
Very smooth simplicity with an extra touch. I lke thay you didn't try and over work the bone, subtle. It will make a great edc. Well done. Mitch |

Yep, what Mitch said. I've thought about the idea of doing some type of carving like this, in both wood and metal. I'm not sure I could pull it off very well. I've got a few practice pieces laying around, I better stay with those for the time being. Your work looks really nice Gary.

Thanks for the kind words. Sometimes I like to keep the damascus pattern as the focal point in a knife. Glad you liked the simplicity of this one.

Gary, I really like the lines on this one, reminds me of the Scagel folder that I got from Ray Kirk If I were to change one thing it would be to shorten the ricasso (lengthen the cutting edge?) just a wee bit.

Thanks all.
Mike, I appreciate the comment on shortening the ricasso. I'll sure keep that in mind on the next. Bill, I haven't been bothering with stabilizing bone & ivory and so far have had no problems but would like to hear anyones opinions as to if what should be stabilized and what doesn't need it. Gary |
