A couple Christmas presents I made

Okay so these aren't knives, but they were still fun to make.

The Jewelry box was for my wife. Made out of Fiddleback Maple, Quilted Maple, Bloodwood, Purple Heart, and Cocobolo. The inside lined with black velvet.

The clock I made for my sister-in-law. Made out of the same materials minus the Cocobolo.

I finished both of these Christmas Eve at 5:00pm! Cutting it kind of close I know.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a safe New Years Eve. I'm looking forward to the new year. This should be an interesting one.

Thank you for the comments guys.... much appreciated!

Shane, there is a wood working store here in Beaverton that carries a lot of hardwood, exotic wood, and burls in stock. It's called Rockler. You can look them up on line. It is the neatest place! Wood workers candy store. Plus there's a lot of tools and such that can be used on knives or in knife applications. Sharpeners, drill bits, bands saws, drill presses, oils, waxes, and on and on...

Here in a few days I should have a knife done and able to be posted that I am currently working on. (actually just came in for a break) It's a DDR3 with Marks Forge mosaic Damascus Bolsters and blue dyed giraffe bone scales. I'm currently finishing up the file-work on the spine. So, I'll talk to you guys again soon.

Chris, do you buy the maple from rockler? not sure the price on it there ,but curly maple is expensive here and i would get maple from several dealers in oregon and pay shipping before buying maple burl or curly maple from rockler.

Oh yeah! It's ridiculously expensive!! I can't remember for sure the exact price, it was something like $20-$25 a board foot! I originally brought a board that was like 6 feet long, it was marked something like $22.50. The he wrang me up, "that will be $127.49" I just about fell over. So I had them cut it in half. Turned out that was enough anyways. (Thank god!)
