I'm old, but I have been delving in computer stuff since the 70's
The interface is pretty cool, tracks everything you do and monitors the oven, but don't rally think it is worth the extra $370 __________________ Matthew 6:33 - It's how I seek to live. |

"RS232 PORT ON SENTRY 2 CONTROLLERS (PC CONTROL) The RS232 is a computer port mounted to the kiln. You can monitor the kiln from a computer and store a record of each firing on your hard drive. Print graphs of firings."

Mostly, you won't need all the functions on that keypad. Read about Ramping. All you really need to do is be able to set the temp you want which is usually only one or maybe two temps (step to 1200, wait 5 minutes, go to 1475 for instance). Set the temp and times you want, ignore all the stuff about alarms and ramping (usually) and just reach the temp as fast as it will go. All the rest is for things you won't be using much if at all...

I wouldn't mind having a sweet paragon but this unit works really well for me. Maybe I can just drill a hole in the side for argon when I start doing SS a bit more......que in Ray.. ~Nate |
