Sheath for feather pattern fighter completed.

The collector that ordered this knife wanted to be able to take the belt loop off and slim the sheath down so it could be carried in an inside pocket.
The false edge is extremely sharp and needed a pvc insert sewed into the sheath so as not to cut the stitching.

I can finally get this delivered. Yea! Fred

Thanks Curtis! I double taped the sheath to a two inch high box with 1/4 "luan on top so I could drill the 300 holes for the stitching. I used a floor drill press to drill the holes. It took me an after noon watching the ball game and sewing.

The large section of the handle is stabilized black walnut. I bought 4 really nice blocks last year and this was the last one of the four. The black section is dyed box elder[ it looks like fine marble up close]
In my view, most all burls need burnishing to bring out the beauty contained in the grain. Once the handle is to shape and at a finished dimension using the belt grinders,
I switch to files, medium to extra fine. After the finest grade files are used I move to a brass rod, using it to rub the surface and blend the fibers of the burl so to speak. Next is leather to burnish and last but not least is Levi material. Great stuff it brings the luster out a makes the wood glow. You can sand through 1500 grit and not get all the beauty the wood has to offer. Its in the burnishing especially with stabilized woods.
Bree wax was applied to the surface but no oils, it just collects dust.
Happy that you like the outfit and thanks for posting, Fred
