This is only the 3rd knife I have made. Please let me know what you like and don't like and what I need to work on. The handle is Purple Heart wood.

Interesting design , I wasn't expecting the gut hook on that end but it's different , cool idea

I'll agree with Rob, interesting concept. I've never been a fan of the gut hook but having it on the other end might work.

I thought it unusual. I love Nicholson files for knives and have two ready and annealed for grind. How did you heat treat it? I like a workable gut hook, but they need a ceramic rod to keep sharp. Is that what you use?

How do you plan to carry it?
I can see that one getting out of the sheath in the woods (at least where I hunt/fish).

jimmontg - where 'bouts in W NC?
(I spend a good bit of time west of Murphy).

Thanks guys. I started with a diamond rod and cleaned it up with a ceramic on the gut hook. Heat treat was 3 rounds of normalization then an edge quench and for tempering I submerged edge in water and used torch to draw back the spine. As far as carrying I was going to slide it in the boot. With a pant leg over it so it wouldn't get snagged on a limb or any thing.
