Pewter Casting

I suppose this belongs in this forum.

Has anyone here cast pewter/lead as a guard/bolster? How about pouring pewter into the pin holes as pins? Do you have any tips?

Alan Longmire posted some great information on using pewter and other cerro alloyed metals.

I've done a little. My favorite for pouring is Roto Metal's lead free babbitt metal. I don't remember the name of the alloy but it's the one with nickel in it. It's probably harder than the non-lead pewters.
