Waste Oil Foundray Design

Can people tell me their honest opinions on this style of Waste Oil furnace, I like the design as it's simple and would be easily converted to propane if necessary. I'd like use it for wootz smelts as well as casting iron.

Thanks

Motor oil is just mineral oil with some detergents. The waste oil will have microscopic bits of cast iron and alloy steel in it.

Actually he starts his waste oil furnace with propane.Once it is up to heat he goes all oil. It should work. I would invest in good refactory and not mess with the back yard clay as he does. I got his book and it is well put together and easily understood. Someone with minimal mechanical skills should be able to build one of these.
