"Truckin' Story"

Back in the 70's I was hauling a load of steel out of Tulsa to Houston.Got loaded late, so it was
about 3am when I went through a little town called Ada.At the main stop light was a man waving
a flashlight for me to stop.I noticed there were several elephants crossing the road, figured they
were taking them to water or something..circus in town.
He stopped the procession so I could go on....met another truck about a mile out of town, and
gave him a shout..."Hey, northbound, you might want to take it easy goin' into town, there's a
bunch of elephants crossing the road,"
He came back with,"Man, you got some better stuff than I got, and I'm runnin' low."Would've
liked to have seen his face when he saw those critters!

Driving through Alabama with my Dad and we saw a dead chicken on the road. Didn't think much of it. About a mile later, we see another dead chicken. Mile later, another chicken. My Dad says, "They must raise a lot of chickens around here if they're wandering out to the highway and getting run over." This continues for a ways until we were about to pass a truck and suddenly a chicken came flying out of the back of the truck and smacked into our car. Turned out that there was a little door left open on the back of the truck - I guess for ventilation - and the chickens inside must have gotten loose. About every mile, one popped out of the door and became roadkill.
