Jigged Bone Dye
I ordered some jigged bone scales for the first time and the dye on both sets rubs off. Is there a drying method or something I need to do before working with them?

Not supposed to have to do anything to them, sounds like not very good quality dye or maybe what came off is just the excess they failed to wipe off. Wipe of what you can, maybe wax the scales and see what's left. Dye color rarely goes all the way through bone anyway. After the excess is off and if what's left looks good you'll need to do any required sanding from the back side to protect the coloring on the jigged side ....

Does it rub off to white bone or just get a bunch of dye on your hands?Alot of the dyed bone I get the first thing I have to do is usea rag and acetone to remove the excess dye, after shaping and polish no more dye will come off.

It doesn't wipe off down to white bone. I've wiped both sets down and I still get dye on my hands. I was thinking to use some Acetone and see what happens. I will try that.
Thanks. Robb |
