Interesting design, isn't it? Seems to be only one speed but I imagine a VFD would fix that. I wonder if there is any control over how hard the hammer strikes? Also, given the price, it might be just as easy and maybe even cheaper to get a Little Giant....

that haqmmer is a planishing?forming hammer for sheet metal, it wouldn't be much use to one of us with out at least 10 times the anvil mass and a far longer stroke along with running at much slower speed. I think you would all most have to start all overwith the design to make it use full for forgeing .

Thanks MP for that information. Shows what I know about power hammers. Like Ray said, get a Little Giant. Wish I could afford one and the space for it. For now it's my old worn out arm.

air hammer
anyone looking for a great hammer contact maurice ellis in belvue, mo. its an alternative
to a little giant i havent got alot of experience with a little giant but ron clairborne thought that maurices 40# air hammer out works a 50# little giant ---all i know is that i love this hammer and it easily works 1 1/2 X 1 1/2 hot steel and its a pleasure to run and it was $2500. already put together and ya dont need a hugh compressor to run i use a 6hp/60 gal. tank $399. at home depot. bb anyone needing a picture email me the only ones i have are to large of a format for here

if anyone wants a pic send me their email address to caper96@mchsi.com i will be happy to send ya a pic -- or you can call maurice he will send ya a vhs video of all his hammers in action i believe he makes 2 or 3 diffrent sizes but for moving serious metal look at the 40# in additition maurice and his wife were wonderful people to deal with. bb
