Bird and Trout

This is one of two bird and trout knives i started this week. This one was heat treated before grinding (dfferencially with a sanite coating) the second was ground and then heat treated (dfferencially with a sanite coating). I did it mostly to see what or if any hamon i would end up with. Though this hamon was very distinct after etching, it hardly resembled the wave pattern i started with. I still need to dye its sheath, sharpen and put on my mark, but overall i am thoroughly pleased with the knife

Stats:
aldo's 1084 1/8" thick
7" overall length, with a 2.75" blade
2 ss pins and a homemade .25" mosaic pin
the handle is black G10 from usa knifemaker
etched in a 4-1 ferric chloride mix, hand sanded to 800 grit

Very nice. The trout and bird is one of my favorite knives. It is something about the lines that just "suit" my eye.

Great job. Love the design and the mosaic pin adds just enough appeal for the eye to be interesting and not overpowering.

Nicely done.

That is a good pattern that will get a lot of use. Good EDC knife for everything.

Thanks guys, the knife worked like a dream. We were able to test it out on a 18.5" brook trout we pulled from one very remote lake.

That's a beauty. I'd be pleased with it. Great looking mosaic too!
