FINISHED!: Neo-Tribal Work Knife
I haven't posted any new work on here in a while because I have been moving into a new shop and outfitting it so I can do my work without having to bum work area off of other people. And here is the first piece I've started in the new shop:
This is forged from a piece of automobile leaf spring and quenched in vegetable oil. The edge was filed by hand. It is currently soaking in vinegar to remove the rest of the scale, leaving behind the forged texture. This is a comission for a member of a different forum I read. More pictures as I finish up. __________________ The Wasteland Crow Project: http://wastelandcrow.blogspot.com A blog I share with a friend where we think out loud upon occasion: http://shareourcampfire.blogspot.com/ Proud to be a Neo-Tribal Metalsmith scavenging the wreckage of civilization. Great looking blade, I like that style. What are you planning to handle it with?

Thanks, Boo. This style of blade really sings to me.
As for handle, I'm going to do a simple wrap with jeweler's copper wire, with cotton cord Turk's head knots on either end. Then the whole thing will be sealed with orange flake shellac. I finished this up today.
The light is shining off at an odd angle, it doesn't look that shiny in real life. It's still forge finished, I just cleaned all the oxidation off. The handle is 20 gauge copper wire with cotton cord Turk's head knots on the ends. The wraps (copper and cotton) are sealed with amber shellac. The sheath is a simple fold-over Kydex sheath. I opened up the top a bit to keep it from catching on the knotwork as you sheath and unsheath it. I hope this isn't gettng annoying, but I just got some better pictures of the knife and wanted to put them up. They're the last ones for this particular blade, I promise.
