Man, that's really something Rade! Nature in action.

I'm trying to come up with a good noun modifier for the shot, but a lot of the appropriate adjectives have already been used. Let's see, we've got super, amazing, and cool so far.

I know -- great shot Mr. Hawkins!

I'll take the word, INCREDIBLE!

I have a lot of hawks around my place and you can't get close to them at all. I can't get a shot like that will a 300mm and a doubler. That hawk must have been hungry to let you get that close before taking off.

What Rade didn't tell you was that was his pet squirrel ... yeah, looks like Bullwinkle is a solo act now! :

"Rocky ... oh poor little Rocky ... I told you to stand over here during filming, dammit?

Next assignment: National Geographic!

What a score. There are a handful of shots we take in our lives that are above the rest. This one is. Look at those intent eyes!

Great shot Rade, thanks for showing us. Now, just what sort of hawk is that? I think you were allowed to get that close because you have an honest look about you

The only bird of prey I've ever seen in my garden was a sparrowhawk which dived out of the sun, through a flock of sparrows in the hedge and then straight over the walnut tree. But then I live in the middle of a city....

Thanks for all the compliments on the hawk. I actually took about 15 shots of this amazing bird. We have a nesting pair of red tailed hawks in my area and on occasions the male will perch on my fence but I have never been able to get a shot. I am not sure but I think this is a juvenal red tailed hawk. I have never seen one with the white feathers. This could be the reason I was able to get that close-Rade

That's cool, Rade.
I have one of a hawk on top of a pole tearing up some prey, but it is a regular pic and my scanner is acting all winky.
