Thumbstuds
I like to remove the thumbstuds and hand rub the blade, but they're hard to get off, looks like they have the permanent threadlock on them (red). I tape up pliers and remove them, but they always get marked. knifekits.com has a thumbstud I ordered, but it doesn't fit. Can you supply the correct thumbstud on the website? Thanks, Bill |

Darrel, Would applying heat to the thumbstuds help make removing them easier? Just a thought........ Bob Sigmon |

Probably, Bob. Didn't think of it. Instead, I screwed them together, chucked 'em up in my drill press and sanded with 600 grit while rotating. Alot of those little screw are on my shop florr somewher. I'm gonna get a Home depot magnet with a long handle!! |

Bill, Another great tip! I just didn't think of it. I do have hand held drills, drill press and mini lathe and mill. And I just didn't think about using them. Duh! Thanks Again, Bob Sigmon BTW - Looked for one of those screws for ten minutes, just to find it right in front of me! |

Re: Vise-Grips
Yes You can heat a rod and put it on the thumbers. This will loosen the lock tite. Then the rubber idea works well. We do not supply thumbers as spare parts. Sorry. The next kit design will come with the thumbers diassembled for just this request. |
