Wait a minute...
The EV is now and always has been one of my favorites...I've made several and have a few more kits on hand. (My "Desert Flame" is an EV with a heavily modified blade)...I plan on making another one in the very near future... Unless a change has been made in the EV4N1, in all fairness,... and with all due respect, I think I should qualify that yes, the thumbstud can unscrew...but not without a little effort on your part. Like the DDR-1 and DDR-11, the EV comes with the thumbstud held in place with locktite. So this means you have to follow the directions over in knifekits "support" section, as to how to break the cement's grip... Basically, heat per instructions and then use tape-wrapped pliars to loosen the screw, careful not to damage or crimp the stud in the process...it can be done, and is not that big of a deal if you take it slow and easy...don't rush it.
