My first kitchen knife - Wa Santoku

Here is the first kitchen knife that I have made. It was made for a friend at work, to be used as a veggie chopper.

It is a Wa style Santoku with a 5.5" blade made from 15N20 steel. The handle is made from stabilized Gabon ebony, and curly Anigre. The blade is satin finished by hand, and the handle is hand sanded up to 2500 grit.

Thanks very much.

I like to continually challenge myself, and that handle was a challenge! It took many hours to get the angles all straight, and it isn't perfect, but I learned a lot from this one.

Surely you learn with that grat and difficult handle. The knife looks very nice and practical for kitchen work.

Great job on the blade. I must ask, are those little droplets of blood on the slats in the background?

Haha. No animals were harmed in the making of this veggie chopper!
