Yesterday I got a call from my neighbor saying they shot a bear and wanted help with the skinning. I skinned the whole bear with my new necker and only had to touch up the edge once.

Well actually hey, I found this old piece in the shop. I don't remember if you guys followed this entire thread, but you may remember that I almost dropped out because I lost momentum on my project. I eventually got inspired to start from scratch and went with that. Well I found my original project and would gladly donate it, its only maybe an hours work to get it shipping ready. Its 1084, flat ground, already HTed and tempered. I can hand sand up the blade and maybe add a tish of filework if someone wants to volunteer to do the handle and then someone else for the sheath. In case anyone cares, I think I originally had olive in mind for the handle and either a wooden or leather sheath.

How do you guys want to work the signing? Everyone mark it?

Photobucket

P.S. Terence, I can do filework on soft and hard steel, just FYI.

We could each mark the part we work on? It would probably be hardest to mark the scales, but I'm sure it could be done.

Alright I'll finish up the blade and send it to CJS. As far as marking scales go, I've had a jeweler engrave letters in wood before and fill it with colored epoxy. That may be possible. Or I would be fine with another name etched in the blade.

Unhappy

I want to apoligize to everyone especialy Mr Garrett. the knife got mailed out but apperantly I had mis labeled it so about 2 weeks later it came back to me. My wife and I have been in a bit of a tight spot financialy and our internet was cut off so I couldnt log on to find out where I had messed up on the addy.
fortunately things are going better for us and the knife is back in the mail with the proper address on it.

once again I am so very sorry for making you wait so long and I hope no one thinks ill of me in the future.
