Cool 2x72 belt storage

Guys, Here's an idea I had for belt storage. Yes, some are used, but I keep them around for "profiling" and junk grinding. It also worked good for keeping new belts in bunches. "In theory" it can hold 1600 belts... yes I said 1600! But I will never put on that many, but it's nice to be able to "SEE" what you have on hand! Made it from tubing and rebar, 6" channel for the base. ----- Jon

Great shop solution Jon. If the belts take a little set on the rebar, maybe you could slip a bit of pvc on to make a softer curve.

Gotta say it looks like a you suck, A-1 fantastic shop in the background.

Thanks for showing, Craig

Thanks Jon for sharing. I have been just hanging my belts on nails driven into the wall. That is a huge waste of space. I will be building one of these belt tree's as soon as I get home and caught up on orders.

Thanks again for the great idea.

I've stored belts many ways over the years. Nails on the wall, floor racks, etc. Several years ago I had a leftover hanging pot rack from a local craft store (I had made them a dozen for the Christmas shopping season). After one particular day of fighting all the scattered belts, I thought about that pot rack.

I forged some different hooks for it, and a means for it to rotate, then attached it to the ceiling. All I have to do when working at the grinder is turn around, rotate it to the belt I want and go. Its saved a lot of room and has proven very handy.

My walls are full of steel racks and shelve units, I took 2x4's, drilled holes big enough for PVC pipe "hangers" and nailed them up where I could, but it never held very many belts. At least this thing I can move if I want to re-arrange. Great idea too, Ed! --- Jon
