Anyone know about ball bearings?
Anyone know how to test ball bearings ? to see what type of steel they are?? I have sonme small less than 1/4" that are SUPER shiney, but are magnetic, and throw a compound spark. Im wanting to try these in a can with powdered metal, but would like to know what they are. Any suggestions??

Eveything I've read has always stated that bearing steel is 52100, but that's hearsay. You'll have to experiment yourself to see if what you have will work effectively for what you want it to do.
What's your supply from? I've heard that the aerospace industry has some of the most painstaking specifications in the world when it comes to components, and if you've got aircraft bearings it's a pretty safe bet that they're top quality 52100. BTW, I like your signature! Vaya con Dios! __________________ -Daniel Jackson (\__/) (='.'=) This is Bunny. Copy and paste bunny into (")_(") your signature to help him gain world domination. |
