Face mill

I Have a Griz mini mill. would it work for face milling damascus billets to have a nice flat block?

Probably. Do you have a face mill that'll fit that mini mill? May be able to use an end mill and skim cut it. But I think if you start taking big cuts you're gonna have trouble.

Don't have an answer for you, but really want one of those Grizzly mills. Would like to find out if it works out for you milling some bars. I will never have room for a surface grinder but will want to mill some damascus flat when I start making some. Which model do you have and what do you think of it so far?

The end result will really depend on the rigidity of your mill and how well your mill is trammed. I have a 8" x 24" mill and it will hold +/- 0.001" over 6" length with really, really light cuts. Guess it just depends on how flat you want it.
